Noida airport debut locked: IndiGo to operate first flight on June 15

Noida: The Noida International Airport is scheduled to commence commercial flight operations from June 15, 2026, authorities confirmed. The airport is expected to emerge as a key aviation hub for the Delhi-NCR region and North India.
The launch follows approval of the Aerodrome Security Programme (ASP) by the Bureau of Civil Aviation Security, confirming that the airport’s safety systems and procedures meet regulatory standards.
The airport was inaugurated earlier this year by Narendra Modi on March 28, ahead of the start of commercial services.
IndiGo to operate first flight
IndiGo will operate the first commercial flight from the airport, marking the beginning of scheduled passenger services. Other carriers, including Akasa Air and Air India Express, are expected to follow shortly after.
Initial routes will connect major cities such as Mumbai, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Kolkata, and Pune, with around 10 destinations likely to be added within the first 45 days of operations.
In its first phase, the airport is expected to handle around 12 million passengers annually. Over the next 25 years, capacity is projected to expand significantly to between 60 million and 120 million passengers, positioning it among the largest airports in India.
The project is being developed under a public-private partnership model involving the Uttar Pradesh government and a subsidiary of Zurich Airport.
Advanced security and infrastructure
The airport has been designed with advanced security features, including more than 350 high-resolution CCTV cameras, electric perimeter fencing, and a unified 24/7 security operations centre.
Passenger processing infrastructure includes 13 security check lanes in Phase 1, along with automated tray retrieval systems, in-line baggage screening, full-body scanners, and walk-through detectors to ensure efficiency and safety.
Once operational, Noida International Airport will complement the Indira Gandhi International Airport and help ease congestion in the region. It is also expected to enhance connectivity for passengers, airlines, and cargo operators across North India.
The launch marks a significant milestone in India’s aviation expansion, aimed at meeting rising passenger demand and strengthening infrastructure.
