Thar on the tracks! Dimapur driver arrested as viral video sparks outrage

Nagaland: A Mahindra Thar driver in Dimapur, Nagaland, created a dangerous spectacle when he illegally drove onto the railway tracks near Dimapur station and got stuck.
On December 16, 2025, at around 11:35 pm, a Mahindra Thar illegally entered the railway tracks at Dimapur railway station and got stuck near Line No. 1, close to the old flyover on the Burma Camp side.
Dimapur police, along with railway officials, quickly reached the spot. The vehicle was safely removed from the tracks, and thankfully, no passengers, railway property, or members of the public were harmed.
Driver in custody
The driver, a 65-year-old man from Signal Angami, Dimapur, was taken into custody. An initial inquiry revealed serious negligence and violation of traffic and railway safety rules. A case was registered with the Railway Protection Force (RPF).
The video, shared on X by Dave (Road Safety: City & Highways), went viral, showing the vehicle stuck on the tracks. Social media users condemned the act, calling it reckless and dangerous. Many urged strict action, including license cancellation and heavy penalties.
Users commented that the driver acted irresponsibly, comparing the stunt to movie scenes, and warned that such negligence could lead to serious accidents if not penalised properly.
