After two days of relentless monsoon showers that disrupted daily life across Mumbai, there is some relief for residents.

As of Tuesday evening, no fresh order has been issued to suspend classes or shut offices on Wednesday, July 8. Schools, colleges and workplaces are expected to function as usual unless authorities announce otherwise overnight.

The weather situation has improved after the India Meteorological Department (IMD) lowered Mumbai's warning from an Orange Alert to a Yellow Alert.

While heavy rainfall is still possible in isolated areas, the overall intensity is expected to be lower than what the city witnessed over the past two days.

However, officials have cautioned that waterlogging and traffic disruptions could still occur in vulnerable pockets.

Even with the easing of the weather alert, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has kept its emergency response teams on standby. Disaster management personnel, dewatering pumps, and other civic resources remain deployed in flood-prone areas to respond quickly to any fresh incidents caused by rain.

The heavy downpour over the last 48 hours left several roads inundated, uprooted trees across the city, and disrupted suburban rail services and flight operations. Civic authorities continue to monitor the situation closely as the monsoon remains active.

Officials have advised parents, students, and office-goers not to rely on social media rumours regarding holidays. Instead, they should wait for official announcements from the BMC, the Maharashtra government, educational institutions, or employers before planning their commute.

For now, Mumbai is expected to resume normal operations on Wednesday, July 8. However, any significant change in weather overnight or an upgraded IMD warning could prompt authorities to review the decision.
