Bengaluru: All India Congress Committee (AICC) president Mallikarjun Kharge has been discharged from M S Ramaiah Hospital in Bengaluru following a successful pacemaker implantation procedure.

In an official statement shared on social media, the Congress party confirmed that Kharge is recovering well and extended gratitude for the public’s wishes. “Honourable Congress President Shri Mallikarjun Kharge ji has been discharged from the hospital this evening. He is doing well and would like to thank each one of you for your good wishes. He looks forward to resuming his activities shortly as advised,” the party said.

Kharge was admitted to hospital earlier this week after complaints of fatigue and breathing issues, following his campaign schedule in Bihar. His family confirmed that he underwent a planned pacemaker surgery and would resume work from October 3.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi spoke to Kharge on Thursday, enquiring about his health and wishing him a speedy recovery. “Spoke to Kharge Ji. Enquired about his health and wished him a speedy recovery. Praying for his continued well-being and long life,” Modi posted on X.

Priyank Kharge, Karnataka minister and Kharge’s son, also issued a statement, describing the procedure as a “short and minor” one. He assured supporters that his father remains stable and will attend scheduled engagements as planned.

Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah visited Kharge in hospital and conveyed his best wishes.

Kharge, who has been actively involved in the Bihar election campaign, is expected to return to public duties soon after medical advice.
