Actor Gautami resigns from AIADMK citing Tamil Nadu political situation

Actor Gautami Tadimalla, who served as the deputy propaganda secretary of the AIADMK, has resigned from the party, citing the prevailing political situation in Tamil Nadu.
In a letter addressed to AIADMK general secretary Edappadi K. Palaniswami, she stated that she was stepping down from her position as primary member as well as from the post of deputy propaganda secretary, saying she made the decision “with a heavy heart” in order to continue her social service activities.
Gautami also expressed gratitude to senior party leaders, former ministers and cadres for their support since she joined the organisation.
A veteran political figure, she had been associated with the BJP for over two decades before quitting the party in October 2023, alleging a lack of support from the leadership over personal matters. She later joined the AIADMK in February 2024 in the presence of Palaniswami and was appointed deputy propaganda secretary in October the same year.
Since joining the AIADMK, she had been actively involved in campaigning for the party and the NDA alliance across Tamil Nadu ahead of the 2026 Assembly elections.
