Delhi voter list update delayed again: EC changes key dates
The Election Commission of India has revised the schedule for the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls in Delhi, with October 1, 2026, set as the qualifying date.
This is the second time the poll body has extended the timeline for the voter list revision process.
The revised schedule was announced after a request from the Chief Electoral Officer (CEO), Delhi.

Door-to-door voter verification extended
Under the updated schedule, Booth Level Officers (BLOs) will continue house-to-house visits until August 17, 2026.
The door-to-door survey was earlier scheduled to end on June 30. The extension allows officials more time to verify voter details and update electoral records.
New dates for draft and final voter rolls
According to the revised schedule, the draft electoral roll will be published on August 24, 2026.
After the draft publication, citizens will be able to file claims and objections from August 24 to September 23, 2026.
The disposal of claims and objections will continue until October 22, 2026.
The final electoral roll will be published on October 27, 2026.
What is Special Intensive Revision (SIR)?
The Special Intensive Revision is a process conducted by the Election Commission to update electoral rolls and ensure that voter lists contain accurate information.
During the process, election officials verify voter details, add eligible voters, remove ineligible entries, and correct errors in electoral records.
Polling station changes also included
The revised schedule also includes rationalisation and rearrangement of polling stations, which is set for August 17, 2026.
The Election Commission has directed officials to inform all concerned departments and political parties about the updated timeline.

With the revised timeline, the Election Commission aims to complete the electoral roll revision process after giving officials additional time for voter verification and citizens more time to raise claims or objections. The extension will allow Booth Level Officers to complete door-to-door checks, while voters can review the draft roll and report any errors before the final list is published on October 27, 2026.
The updated electoral roll will serve as the official voter list after the completion of verification, corrections and claim disposal. The Election Commission has also directed officials to ensure wider public awareness about the revised schedule and inform political parties about the changes.
