Bihar Assembly Election Results 2025: Indrajeet Prasad Gupta wins Saharsa seat

Patna: The Saharsa constituency, a crucial political battleground in Bihar known for its fiercely contested elections, has seen a new development in the current polls. Indrajeet Prasad Gupta of the Indian Independence Party (IIP) emerged victorious, defeating Kishor Kumar of the Jan Suraaj Party (JSP) and Alok Ranjan Jha of the BJP by a margin of approximately 2,038 votes.

The Saharsa constituency, located in the flood-prone Kosi belt of eastern Bihar, is a competitive battleground where development issues such as flood management, infrastructure, and employment dominate voter concerns.

The BJP had emphasised a “continuity of governance” narrative here, hoping to consolidate its past win in 2020 when Alok Ranjan defeated the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) candidate by a margin of about 19,679 votes.

Gupta, on the other hand, had sought to project himself as a change candidate, drawing support from those dissatisfied with the current regional status quo. The dynamic of the contest has been further complicated by the entry of other contenders, including Kishor Kumar of the Jan Suraaj Party (JSP).

With the vote-counting underway and trends suggesting a tightening race, the outcome in Saharsa will carry symbolic weight — not just for the BJP and IIP, but also for regional perceptions of voter sentiment in the Kosi region.
