Air hostess caught smuggling gold in Kannur Airport

Kochi: An Air India Express flight attendant was apprehended at Kannur International Airport after attempting to smuggle gold on Tuesday. 

The arrested individual is identified as Surabhi Khatun, hailing from Kolkata.  

The incident took place on Tuesday. Surabhi arrived in Kannur aboard Air India Express's IX714 flight from Muscat. Upon inspection, authorities confiscated 960 grams of gold from her possession. It is learned that the gold was in compound form concealed in her rectum. 

Following preliminary questioning, she was presented before the magistrate. Surabhi, who was remanded for 14 days, was transferred to a jail in Kannur. Meanwhile, a detailed investigation has been announced by the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI).

The evidence collected by the authorities suggests that Surabhi has been involved in smuggling gold in the past. Authorities are probing the involvement of individuals from Kerala in the gold smuggling operation.
