Padma Awards 2026: Mammootty receives Padma Bhushan from President Droupadi Murmu

A proud moment for Malayalam cinema unfolded in New Delhi as Mammootty received the Padma Bhushan during the second civil investiture ceremony of the Padma Awards 2026.

The honour was presented by Droupadi Murmu at Rashtrapati Bhavan on Tuesday, June 23. The ceremony was attended by Narendra Modi, CP Radhakrishnan and Amit Shah, along with several distinguished guests.

Mammootty was among the early recipients to receive the prestigious civilian honour, recognised for his contribution to Indian cinema and decades-long presence in the film industry.

The actor was accompanied by his wife Sulfath, son and actor Dulquer Salmaan, and daughter Surumi during the ceremony.

The Padma Awards are among India’s highest civilian honours and celebrate exceptional contributions across fields including arts, literature, public service and science.
