Amid disruptions in commercial LPG supplies linked to escalating tensions in West Asia, street food vendors at the iconic 56 Dukaan Chaat-Chowpatty in Indore are adapting quickly by switching to electric cooking appliances to keep their businesses running.

Despite concerns over cooking gas availability, the lively food street continues to buzz with activity. Known as one of Indore’s most popular food destinations, the market still draws large crowds every evening as vendors prepare a variety of chaat and snacks for locals and tourists.

However, behind the counters, many stall owners have begun using induction cooktops and electric kettles as an alternative to commercial LPG cylinders, ensuring that food preparation continues without interruption.

Vendors say they are determined not to let the temporary supply disruption affect business or dampen the city’s reputation as a thriving street food hub.

Authorities have assured that the LPG supply issue is temporary and have advised hotels, restaurants and small eateries to rely on alternative cooking methods until normal distribution resumes.

Meanwhile, the shift away from LPG has triggered a surge in demand for electric cooking appliances, with several companies reporting a three- to fourfold rise in sales of induction stoves and similar devices in recent weeks.
