Alaknanda River overflows, Rudraprayag's Namami Ghat submerged after heavy rain
The Namami Ghat in Rudraprayag has been completely submerged after the Alaknanda River overflowed due to continuous heavy rainfall in the upper reaches of Uttarakhand's Garhwal region, officials said on Monday.
According to the district administration, persistent rainfall in the upper Himalayan region has caused a steady rise in the river's water level, which was recorded at 622.90 metres above mean sea level (MSL). The river is flowing with a strong current, and its water has turned highly turbid because of the heavy inflow.
The district administration, Disaster Management Department and Municipal Council are continuously monitoring the situation and have urged residents and visitors to stay away from the riverbanks.
