Trisha made her highly-anticipated OTT debut in Director Suraj Manoj Vangala's web series 'Brinda' on Friday. The series marks a significant milestone in her illustrious career. This Sony LIV Originals eight-part series is a masterclass in suspenseful storytelling, expertly weaving together psychopathic crime and family drama to create a gripping narrative.

What is 'Brinda' about?

'Brinda', a talented and driven police officer, is relegated to data entry duties, feeling underutilized and overlooked. However, when a suspected suicide turns into a shocking murder, 'Brinda' is suddenly at the forefront of the investigation. As she delves deeper into the case, she discovers a complex trail of clues leading to multiple crimes. As 'Brinda' works to unravel the tangled threads of the investigation, she comes across her own past.

Strong performances

At the helm of 'Brinda' is Trisha, who shines as the titular character, a young and determined cop. Her performance is riveting, bringing depth and nuance to the role.

Trisha's portrayal of 'Brinda''s complexity and intensity is captivating, making her character's journey both compelling and relatable.

The supporting cast, which includes Indrajith Sukumaran and Ravindra Vijay, adds depth and dimension to the narrative. Their performances are solid, providing a sturdy foundation for the story to unfold.

However, it is Anand Sami's chilling performance as Thakur that steals the show, leaving a lasting impact on the viewer.

Glitch in the script

Brinda's script is mostly impressive, with a well-developed storyline that keeps viewers on the edge of their seats. The plot twists are cleverly timed, maintaining suspense and tension throughout.

However, the pacing falters slightly towards the end, veering into family drama territory. Despite this minor misstep, the writing team has done an admirable job of crafting an engaging narrative.

Skip it or watch it?

Director Vangala's vision is evident throughout the series, with a keen eye for detail and a talent for building tension. The music score is equally impressive, perfectly complementing the on-screen action and elevating the viewing experience.

'Brinda' is a must-watch for fans of crime thrillers. While minor flaws exist, they do not detract from the overall experience.

With its gripping storyline and effective direction, 'Brinda' is a worthy addition to your watchlist.
