‘I am struggling without a house’: Vijay’s wife moves court with fresh plea in divorce case

A new development has emerged in the ongoing divorce proceedings between Tamil actor Thalapathy Vijay and his estranged wife Sankgeetha Sornalingam. Sankgeetha has filed a fresh petition before the Chengalpattu court seeking an interim order that would allow her to continue living in the couple’s matrimonial home until the case is resolved.

According to reports, Sankgeetha stated in her petition that she fears she may be denied accommodation and therefore sought legal protection from the court. She requested that the court ensure her right to remain in the house during the pendency of the divorce proceedings.

Divorce case and allegations

Sankgeetha had earlier filed for divorce in December in the Chengalpattu court. In the petition, she reportedly cited emotional cruelty and neglect, and also alleged that Vijay was involved in an extramarital relationship with an actress, which she claimed led to the breakdown of their marriage.

According to the petition, Sankgeetha said she came to know about the alleged relationship in 2021 and claimed that Vijay had travelled abroad with the actress on multiple occasions. She also stated that photos related to the alleged relationship had surfaced on social media.

The petition further stated that when she confronted Vijay about the matter, he did not deny the allegations, which she said caused her significant emotional distress and humiliation.

Marriage and family

Vijay and Sankgeetha married in 1999 and have two children — a son and a daughter. Their son is reported to be around 25 years old, while their daughter is about 20.

In recent years, the couple had reportedly been living separately. Sankgeetha had been residing in London, while Vijay continued to live in Chennai.

The divorce case has attracted widespread attention in the media and on social media platforms in recent weeks. Speculation about Vijay’s alleged relationship with an actress has also circulated online, although neither Vijay nor anyone lese involved has publicly addressed the rumours.

Amid these developments, Sankgeetha’s latest petition seeks court protection to ensure that she is not prevented from accessing or living in the Neelankarai residence, which she has identified as the matrimonial home.

The case remains ongoing, and further hearings are expected as the court considers the interim request and the divorce petition.
