Los Angeles: It was a landmark evening for actor Stephen Graham at the 77th Primetime Emmy Awards, where the acclaimed British star took home two major awards for his work in Netflix’s breakout limited series Adolescence — including Lead Actor in a Limited or Anthology Series or Movie.

Earlier in the ceremony, Graham had already earned an Emmy for Outstanding Writing alongside co-creator Jack Thorne, marking a career milestone. But it was his emotional acceptance speech after winning Best Actor that left the biggest impression on audiences worldwide.

The Adolescence cast erupted in cheers and tears as Stephen Graham clinched the Emmy for Lead Actor, celebrating the emotional moment like a family victory.

"This kind of thing doesn't normally happen to a kid like me," said the 50-year-old actor, visibly moved as he addressed the crowd. "I'm just a mixed race kid from a block of flats in a place called Kirkby, so for me, to be here today in front of my peers and to be acknowledged by you is the utmost humbling thing I could ever imagine in my life. And it shows you that any dream is possible."

Graham went on to dedicate his award to his father, who first introduced him to films, and paid heartfelt tribute to his children, Grace and Alfie, and his wife.

"You are my rock, you are my will, you are my soulmate, and you know and I know without you, I would be dead. So from the bottom of my heart, I love you with everything I have."

The actor wrapped up his speech with a surprise gesture that delighted fans in India and beyond:

"Namaste, everyone. Thanks very much."

Graham’s win came in a highly competitive category, where he beat out heavyweights including Colin Farrell (The Penguin), Bryan Tyree Henry (The Dope Thief), Jake Gyllenhaal (Presumed Innocent), and Cooper Koch (The Monsters: The Lyle and Erik Menendez Story).
