'Urinating in pool after pushing cop in': Complaint filed against Allu Arjun over 'Pushpa 2' scene

Telangana Congress leader Teenmar Mallanna on Tuesday has filed a formal complaint against actor Allu Arjun, accusing the actor of indulging in inappropriate behaviour in the recently released film 'Pushpa 2'. The complaint stems from a controversial scene in which Allu Arjun’s character is shown urinating in a swimming pool. Mallanna has expressed strong disapproval of the scene, calling it "indecent" and questioning its impact on law enforcement officers’ dignity.
In the complaint, Mallanna stated, "This is an indecent scene. This is a scene that questions the pride of law enforcement officers. How can this be accepted?"
The Congress leader's move adds to the growing controversy surrounding the film. The complaint has not only been filed against Allu Arjun but also against the film's director, Sukumar, for his role in creating and endorsing the scene.
Minister Seethakka criticises Pushpa 2's glorification of smuggling
Earlier, Telangana Minister Danasari Anasuya Seethakka voiced her disappointment over the national recognition of 'Pushpa 2', which she feels glorifies smuggling. She pointed out the stark contrast between the accolades received by 'Pushpa 2' and the lack of recognition for critically acclaimed films like 'Jai Bhim', which focus on social issues.
Seethakka criticised the way in which the film portrays a smuggler as a hero, while law enforcement officers are depicted in a negative light.
Seethakka stated, "How can a smuggler be portrayed as a hero, while the police officer attempting to curb smuggling is depicted as the villain?" She argued that such depictions could have a negative influence on society, especially when it comes to how individuals perceive crime and law enforcement.
The issues surrounding 'Pushpa 2' have sparked a wider debate on the portrayal of characters in popular cinema, particularly regarding the glorification of criminal activity and its potential societal impact.
The controversy surrounding 'Pushpa 2' escalated after a tragic incident occurred during a screening of the film at the Sandhya Theatre in Hyderabad.
On December 4, a stampede broke out during the screening, resulting in the death of a 35-year-old woman, while her eight-year-old son was injured and hospitalised.
Following the incident, the city police registered a case against Allu Arjun, his security team, and the theatre management under various sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). The case was filed at the Chikkadpally police station, based on a complaint lodged by the deceased woman's family.
Allu Arjun, who was named as accused number 11 in the case, was arrested by the police on December 13. However, he was granted interim bail by the Telangana High Court later that day. The actor was released from prison on the morning of December 14, following the court's four-week interim bail order.
