Salman Khan’s ‘Maatrubhumi’ undergoes more changes; final cut yet to be locked: Report

Salman Khan’s ‘Maatrubhumi: May War Rest In Peace’ is still in the post-production stage, with the makers yet to finalise the film’s cut or begin the certification process. The project, which has undergone changes since it was first announced, is currently being worked on at multiple levels, including its background score.
Composer Ravi Basrur is reportedly working on the film’s score at Octavia Studios, while the team continues to incorporate changes during the editing process, according to a report by Variety India. With the final version yet to be approved, the film has not been submitted to the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC).
Final cut yet to be locked
The makers are expected to complete the ongoing revisions before approving the final version of the film. Only after the cut is locked will the project move towards the certification stage.
The CBFC process is therefore yet to begin, and the film’s theatrical plans remain undecided. A release date is expected to be announced only after the makers complete the post-production work and obtain certification.
From ‘Battle of Galwan’ to ‘Maatrubhumi’
The Salman Khan-led project has gone through a significant change since its initial announcement. Directed by Apoorva Lakhia and produced by Salman Khan Films, the film was originally introduced as ‘Battle of Galwan’ and draws inspiration from the 2020 Galwan Valley clash between Indian and Chinese troops.
Khan plays an Indian Army officer in the film, with Chitrangda Singh also part of the cast. The project was initially slated for a theatrical release on April 17, 2026. However, the film did not make it to cinemas on the scheduled date as production and post-production work continued.
In March, the makers unveiled the new title ‘Maatrubhumi: May War Rest In Peace’ along with a new poster, marking a change from the film’s original identity.
No confirmed release date yet
With the background score still being completed and further changes being made to the film, several steps remain before the project can reach theatres. The final cut must be approved, following which the film can be submitted to the CBFC for certification.
Until that process is completed, there is no confirmed theatrical release window for ‘Maatrubhumi: May War Rest In Peace’.
Salman Khan’s other projects
Meanwhile, Khan has started work on an action drama tentatively known as ‘SVC63’, which has reportedly been given the working title ‘Monster’. Vamshi Paidipally is directing the film, with Dil Raju producing it. Nayanthara, Anil Kapoor and Arvind Swamy are also reportedly part of the project, which is being planned for an Eid 2027 release.
Khan is also reported to be collaborating with Raj and DK on a superhero project.
