Malappuram professor's WhatsApp group turns Maths guide for over 5,000 people

Malappuram: Dr P Vinod Kumar, associate professor at Tirur Thunchan Smaraka Govt College, is on cloud nine after his WhatsApp group which was exclusively launched for Mathematics lessons became a huge hit. The WhatsApp group 'Maths Aspirants' have helped many clear competitive exams and find a career.

Dr P Vinod Kumar created this group intending to help students, researchers and people who are passionate about mathematics. At present, this group has grown with other social media platforms and turned into a big family of over 5000 members.

The group members have won top ranks in national-level tests with the help of the lessons shared through this group. 'Maths Aspirants' started gaining popularity at the national level too.

Training, debates and discussions for many competitive examinations like NET, GATE, JAM, NBHM and PG entrance are being provided in the group. The group has become a blessing in disguise for many poor students who are unable to join the expensive coaching classes.

'Maths Aspirants' has been functioning with the joint cooperation of research students and teachers in India and abroad.

The group was founded in July 2021 for BSC Mathematics students. But at present, over 150 students from nearly 50 colleges in Kerala have joined this group. A total of 15 members in 'Maths Aspirants' cleared the Joint Admission test for Masters (JAM) this year. Meanwhile, 6 members got admission in various IITs, 5 in NITs and one in Thiruvananthpuram IISER.

K Anurag who joined MSC Maths at Mumbai IIT revealed that preparations with 'Maths Aspirants' helped him crack the exam.

"I got the opportunity to study with over 100 students. Hence, I got the chance to join one of the best institutes," he said.
V Haripirya, another member of this group also shared her happiness to join MSC maths in IISER, Thiruvananthapuram.

"The discussions in the group after 7 pm helped me a lot in my preparations. I got training to write the answers in the most simple method. Vinod sir was always available to clear doubts," she said.

A total of 10 members secured the first 20 ranks in the CUSAT PG entrance.

Dr Bijumon, associate professor of Mahatma Gandhi College in Iritty, Kannur has been assisting Dr Vindod Kumar to manage the WhatsApp group.
