Institute of Mathematics and Applications invites applications for UG, PG programmes 2026–27

Institute of Mathematics and Applications; Science & Technology Department, Government of Odisha; Bhubaneswar-751029; has invited applications for admission to various Programmes for 2026-27.

Applications have been invited for admission to Undergraduate Programme [B.Sc. (Hons.) in Mathematics and Computing]; Integrated Postgraduate Programmes [Integrated M.Sc. in Mathematics and Computing; Integrated M.Sc. in Mathematics and Artificial Intelligence] and Postgraduate Programme [M.A./M.Sc. in Mathematics with Data Science].

B.Sc. (Hons.) in Mathematics and Computing: The Program aims to impart high quality education in Mathematics and Computing and at the same time keep career option open in Computer Science/Statistics.

Integrated Five Year Postgraduate (P.G.) Programmes (Approved by the Govt. and under consideration of Utkal University):

(i) Integrated M.Sc. in Mathematics and Computing (course): The Programme is designed to equip students with a strong foundation in mathematical thinking alongside modern computational techniques. This programme aims to develop analytical, logical, and problem-solving abilities, enabling students to model, analyze, and compute solutions across diverse domains such as Science, Engineering, Finance and Technology. Structured across ten semesters, the curriculum provides a balanced blend of core Mathematics, Computer Science, and interdisciplinary applications. Students gain in-depth knowledge of areas such as Algebra, Analysis, Probability, Optimization and Numerical Methods, complemented by programming, data structures, algorithms, and emerging areas like artificial intelligence and scientific computing. With a flexible choice of electives and exposure to contemporary computational tools, graduates of this programme are well-prepared for careers in industry, research, and academia, as well as for pursuing advanced studies in mathematics, computing, and related fields.

(ii) Integrated M.Sc. in Mathematics and Artificial Intelligence: Programme is designed to develop professionals with a strong mathematical foundation and advanced expertise in intelligent systems. This programme aims to equip students with the ability to understand and design AI-driven solutions grounded in rigorous mathematical principles. Students are trained to analyze complex data, build intelligent models, and address real-world challenges across domains such as healthcare, finance, robotics, and digital systems. Spanning ten semesters, the curriculum integrates core areas of mathematics—such as linear algebra, probability, statistics, optimization, and analysis—with key components of artificial intelligence, including machine learning, deep learning, natural language processing, and computer vision.

Eligibility for B.Sc. and Integrated Programmes: Applicant should have passed Higher Secondary or equivalent examination with Mathematics and English as subjects.

M.A./M.Sc. in Mathematics with Data Science (Two-year course): The course aims at producing competent data scientists with strong foundation in mathematics to address the requirements in corporate sector while having ample scope for a career option in academics as well. The syllabus is designed for in-depth theoretical background in data science, hands on training in laboratory; interfere with industry with varieties of electives to choose for different requirements. The course is an amalgamation of Mathematics, Statistics, Computation, Big Data Analysis, Machine Learning including Deep Learning, Business Analytics and much more.

Eligibility: Applicant should have passed Bachelor’s Degree with Mathematics/Statistics as honours/pass subject.

Selection: Selection for all Programmes shall be made based on entrance test to be held on 23rd June, 2026 at different centres. It will be of two hours’ duration.

Application Fee for all the courses is Rs 700/-. It is Rs 400/- for Odisha state domicile SC /ST candidates only. Fee can be paid online.
