Kottayam: In a tragic incident, two students drowned in Meenachil river here on Thursday. The deceased are identified as Peroor natives Amal (14) and Naveen (13). 

The accident took place at Pallikunnu ghat around 1 pm on Thursday.

According to reports, the duo was among the four children who reached here to take a dip in the river.

The bodies of the deceased were shifted to Kottayam medical college.

Amal was a studying at Ettumanoor Govt. Boys High School while Naveen was a student of Mannanam St. Ephrem's Higher Secondary School.
