
Kochi: A 19-year-old girl was found dead in a pond at Thevakkal, Kochi, on Monday morning. The deceased has been identified as Amrutha, daughter of Surendran and Shyamala.
According to the family, Amrutha was last seen studying in her room until midnight on Sunday. However, when her parents checked on her later, she was missing. A subsequent search led to the discovery of her sandals near a pond near their house owned by the municipality.
The police and fire force were immediately informed. The fire force arrived at the scene and recovered Amrita's body from the pond around 6 am.
Following an inquest, the body was transferred to the Government Medical College in Kalamassery for a post-mortem examination. Amrutha was a BBA student at MES College, Edathala.
She is survived by her father Surendran, mother Shyamala and brother Athul Surendran.
