Puducherry: Three people have died after inhaling toxic air from a manhole in Reddipalayam, Puducherry. The poisonous gas was released through a floor drain inside a house, resulting in the deaths of two women and a 15-year-old boy. Two others are currently under treatment.
The incident occurred in the morning when the toxic air began spreading after opening the washroom. The two women in the house succumbed to the poison and a 15-year-old boy who came there after hearing their sound from the neighbourhood also lost his life.
As a precaution, houses in the Reddipalayam area are being evacuated, and all manholes in Reddipalayam and Pudunagar are being instructed to open.
Residents in the Pudunagar region have been advised to stay alert. Authorities, including the district collector, revenue officials, fire force, and medical teams have been deployed in the location.
