Rockstar Games sneaks GTA 6 hint in latest GTA Online trailer fans nearly missed | WATCH

Rockstar Games has quietly reignited buzz around Grand Theft Auto 6—but not in the way fans expected. The studio, largely silent about its highly anticipated sequel, recently slipped a subtle reference into a new GTA Online trailer, and players almost overlooked it.
Back in May, Rockstar disappointed millions of GTA enthusiasts when it confirmed that Grand Theft Auto 6 would be delayed until May 26, 2026. The developer cited the need for additional time to meet the franchise’s ambitious standards.
Since the release of the second trailer shortly after that announcement, Rockstar has maintained an unusually low profile, leaving its publisher, Take-Two Interactive, to field questions about the game’s progress.
So, when the studio drops even the faintest clue about GTA 6, the fan community immediately springs into action — even when those hints are cleverly tucked away.
New GTA Online trailer teases the wait for GTA 6
That’s exactly what happened on October 14, when Rockstar released a fresh trailer for GTA Online’s upcoming winter update. The update, believed to be the final major expansion for GTA 5’s multiplayer mode, will introduce long-awaited features such as ownable mansions.
Early in the video, fans caught a line that instantly drew attention. “I’m afraid our time isn’t up yet,” says the in-game character Dr Friedlander — a statement many interpreted as a cheeky nod to the ongoing wait for GTA 6.
Interestingly, Rockstar later unlisted the trailer from its official YouTube channel. This means it’s no longer publicly viewable unless accessed via a direct link, making the Easter egg even easier to miss.
Rockstar has long been known for its playful teasing of the Grand Theft Auto community, often dropping cryptic clues or inside jokes about development timelines. Fans believe this latest instance may suggest that production remains on track and the game is still targeting its May 2026 release.
GTA 6 expected platforms
As for platforms, GTA 6 is confirmed to launch on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S consoles. However, uncertainty remains regarding a PC release at launch. According to a report from Insider Gaming, a same-day PC version is unlikely, and it’s also doubtful the title will arrive on the Nintendo Switch 2.
