Microsoft explains reason behind MASSIVE global outage!

Mumbai: Microsoft has traced the global outage to a configuration change in Azure backend workloads, causing connectivity failures between storage and compute resources. This interruption impacted downstream Microsoft 365 services.
"We're making progress on mitigation efforts for the affected Microsoft 365 apps and services," the company said, noting that users should see improvements as the residual impact is addressed.
Crowdstrike identified a related issue with "content deployment" and advised a workaround for users. The outage affected banks, airlines, and other services globally. Airlines like SpiceJet and IndiGo have implemented manual check-in processes due to the disruptions, with flight operations affected at Bengaluru International Airport.
"A configuration change in a portion of our Azure backend workloads, caused interruption between storage and compute resources which resulted in connectivity failures that affected downstream Microsoft 365 services dependent on these connections," says a report in Microsoft 365 admin centre.
The company is also making progress on mitigation efforts for the affected Microsoft 365 apps and services. Users should see improvements as the residual impact is addressed. The issue may impact any user attempting to use various Microsoft 365 apps and services, says the company.
Microsoft users worldwide, including banks and airlines, reported widespread outages on Friday, hours after the technology company said it was gradually fixing an issue affecting access to Microsoft 365 apps and services.
Microsoft appeared to suggest in its X posts that the situation was improving but escalating outages were still being reported around the world hours later. The website DownDectector, which tracks user-reported internet outages, recorded growing outages in services at Visa, ADT security, and Amazon, and airlines including American Airlines and Delta.
