Several details about the upcoming iPhone 17 Pro and Pro Max have already surfaced through leaks, but information about Apple’s planned colour options remains limited. A new report from 9to5Mac, citing information shared by Majin Bu, suggests that Sky Blue may be among the standout finishes for the upcoming models.

Citing Majin Bu, “sources close to the supply chain confirm that several iPhone 17 Pro prototypes have been made in various colors, with Sky Blue currently the frontrunner. In prototypes, it reportedly looks even more stunning than the much-loved Sierra Blue of the iPhone 13 Pro, with a brightness and refinement that make it irresistible. Unless Apple changes course at the last minute, this will be the star of the September 2025 launch event.”

The introduction of Sky Blue in the iPhone 17 Pro range would follow its debut on the M4 MacBook Air. If Sky Blue has been well-received on the MacBook Air, introducing the new colour in the iPhone 17 could be an ideal way for Apple to build on that popularity.

Historically, Apple has offered a set of consistent grey-tone options for its iPhone Pro range, usually accompanied by a single seasonal colour. For example, last year’s exclusive Pro finish was Desert Titanium.

With anticipation building around Apple’s next-generation smartphones, a series of early reports and leaks have offered a glimpse into the potential upgrades coming to the iPhone 17 lineup. From hardware enhancements to design changes, here’s what the latest rumours suggest.

Front camera upgrade to 24 MP

According to reports, Apple intends to introduce a new 24 MP front-facing camera across the entire iPhone 17 range. This would mark a major upgrade from the current 12 MP sensors and could offer substantial improvements in selfie and video call quality.

A19 Pro Chip to power top models

Apple is expected to introduce its latest processor, the A19 Pro chip, which will be reserved for the iPhone 17 Pro and Pro Max models. Meanwhile, the standard iPhone 17 and iPhone 17 Air are likely to feature the base A19 chip.

iPhone 17 Pro models to feature 12GB RAM

The iPhone 17 Pro and Pro Max will reportedly come with 12GB of RAM – the highest amount ever used in an iPhone. This marks a 50% boost compared to the 8GB found in the iPhone 16 Pro. The standard iPhone 17 and iPhone 17 Air models are expected to remain at 8GB.

Apple to use in-house Wi-Fi and Bluetooth chip

Reports indicate that Apple will incorporate its custom-designed Wi-Fi and Bluetooth chip in the iPhone 17 Pro and Pro Max. There’s also a possibility that this chip will be used across the entire iPhone 17 lineup.

Redesigned aluminium frame for iPhone 17 Pro series

Apple is said to be transitioning from titanium to aluminium for the frame of the iPhone 17 Pro and Pro Max. This is noteworthy given that titanium was only recently introduced with the iPhone 15 Pro models in 2023.
