Hafthor Bjornsson, famously known for portraying Gregor Clegane, aka "The Mountain", in Game of Thrones, has shattered the deadlift world record once again—this time lifting an astounding 510 kilograms (1,124 pounds) at the Strongman 2025 competition in Birmingham.

The Icelandic powerhouse broke his own previous record of 505kg (1,113 pounds), a feat that had already placed him in elite territory within the strength sports world. Bjornsson, who was crowned World’s Strongest Man in 2018, added another historic moment to his impressive athletic résumé.

What truly stunned fans and fellow athletes alike was how effortlessly Bjornsson appeared to complete the record-breaking lift. The ease with which he hoisted the massive weight sparked speculation online about whether he could go even heavier.

But in a video posted to his YouTube channel, Bjornsson was quick to shut down that idea.

"People have been asking me, if 510 is light, will you go heavier? And the honest answer is no," he said, explaining that the lift was part of a strategic plan rather than a push to his absolute limits.

"I want to win the whole show. I have five events left after that lift. It's about being smart."

How does he execute?

Bjornsson's lift was not only historic but methodically planned. His warm-up routine included:

70kg for 5 reps

120kg for 3

170kg for 2

Singles at 220kg, 270kg, 320kg, and 370kg

Once on the main stage, he opened with 420kg, followed by a second lift at 470kg before landing the record-breaking 510kg in his final attempt.

Despite the monumental weight, Bjornsson revealed that this wasn't even close to his maximum potential. Still, his priority was winning the overall competition, not just chasing records for spectacle.

"It's about being smart," he reiterated.

What does he eat?

On the morning of the event, Bjornsson also shared insights into his competition-day nutrition, showcasing the breakfast that fuels his monstrous lifts. His meal included sweet and regular potatoes, eggs, rice, Greek yogurt, oatmeal with blueberries, and orange juice.

"I never change things on comp day," he said. "The same food, the same plan. Keep the stomach happy, stay focused."
