Jaismine Lamboria clinches Gold At World Boxing Championships 2025

India's Jaismine Lamboria etched her name in history by clinching the nation's first-ever gold medal at the 2025 World Boxing Championships. The Commonwealth Games medalist triumphed in the fiercely contested 57kg category final, defeating Poland's Julia Szeremeta via a split 4-1 decision.

Szeremeta, who secured silver at the Paris 2024 Olympics, entered the bout as a formidable opponent. Jaismine, however, showed remarkable resilience. After trailing in the first round, she mounted a powerful comeback in the second and maintained her dominance to seal the win.

“This feeling can’t be expressed, I’m so happy to be a world champion,” Jaismine told Olympics.com following her historic victory. “After my early exit at Paris 2024, I went away and worked hard—physically, technically, and mentally. This is the result of consistent effort over the past year.”

Jaismine’s triumph is especially significant given her early exit at the Paris Olympics, marking a strong return to form on the world stage.

India's women pugilists shone at the championships, clinching a total of three medals. Pooja Rani secured a bronze, while Nupur claimed silver in the 80kg category. However, it was a disappointing outing for the male boxers, who failed to reach the podium.
