Yashasvi Jaiswal continued his impressive form in Test cricket with a magnificent 175 against the West Indies at the Arun Jaitley Stadium. At just 23, Jaiswal was on track for yet another double century before a misunderstanding with captain Shubman Gill ended his innings prematurely. His 175, scored off 258 balls and including 22 boundaries, was his fifth 150+ score in Tests and further cemented his reputation as a prolific run-scorer. Despite his disappointment at falling short, the post-match interview brought a light-hearted moment. Speaking to the host broadcaster, Harsha Bhogle praised Jaiswal, saying, “Well done. We absolutely loved watching you bat. Don’t worry about how it ended.”

Sunil Gavaskar then added humor and warmth, saying, “Just to add to that — great job, keep it up. Keep scoring those hundreds, those daddy hundreds. But since I’m a grandfather now, I’ll say, keep making granddaddy hundreds.” Jaiswal, visibly surprised, responded with a humble “Thank you, sir,” as laughter broke out in the studio. He now shares the record for most Test centuries before turning 24 with South Africa’s Graeme Smith.
