Vinod Kambli 'doing fine,' says friend, makes big claim about his hospitalisation

In a major relief for cricket fans, former India cricketer Vinod Kambli is recovering well at the hospital in Thane. Kambli was admitted to a hospital after his health condition worsened on Saturday.

"Kambli is doing fine now. He is suffering from a urinary infection and was admitted to the hospital on Saturday. I visited him today...I suggested that he stay at the hospital for a month as he has several health concerns. Since someone is willing to bear the cost of his treatment, why not?" his friend, Marcus Couto, told the Times of India.

Dr Vivek Trivedi, who is treating Kambli (52), said the Mumbai-based former India batter initially complained of urinary infection and cramps following which he was admitted to the hospital in the Kalher area of Bhiwandi town on Saturday. However, after a series of examinations the medical team supervising him at Akruti Hospital found clots in his brain, Trivedi informed. 

Kambli, who played 17 Tests and 104 ODIs for India between 1993-2000, had recently attended the inauguration of legendary coach Ramakant Achrekar's memorial at the Shivaji Park here.

The former India cricketer, who has been struggling with health-related issues for quite some time, appeared frail in the function which was also attended by his long-time friend Sachin Tendulkar.
