Music maestros of Malayalam, Kaithapram Damodaran Namboothiri and Ouseppachan, along with singer Dr Bineetha Renjith, provided an eventful evening at MBIFL on Friday.

The session took everyone back through memory lanes, where silky music greats weaved legendary and evergreen songs.

The tunes are prepared within our limitations. Ouseppachan said that Kaithapram Namboothiri writes in his own style, irrespective of the tune. But the emotion it conveys shows the beauty of this mastery over music. According to his philosophy, if song lines are perfect, everything can be tuned and corrected.

Kaithapram revealed the idea behind his composition of songs. He wants the characters to show their feelings and emotions through the songs, which should be understandable for the viewers. No song can be made without an emotional connection, but in the case of Kaithapram and Ouseppachan, the songs became vibrant and meaningful.

Ouseppachan emphasises the need for dedication in the creation of a song.  "It is not a mere commercial or money-oriented process but a part of life. It matters how much we take it in a song, which makes it more beautiful. Also, lyrics determine the composition of a song, of which Kaithapram is a prime example. Working with people close to my heart is always comfortable and memorable, " says Ouseppachan.

They unitedly pointed out that we should always approach music with a happy and dedicated mindset. Bineetha pointed out the female perspective writing of Kaithapram in his songs.

Kaithapram admitted that is his personal statement and style, which he upholds. But it must be mentioned that both of these legends are past. They updated according to the trends of the new generation and made songs that appealed to the modern.

Pramadhavanam veendum, Devanganal Kai ozhinja Thaarakam, Eatho varmukilil Kinaavile, Ormakal oodi kalikuvan ethunnu……the list continues, and so does the fantastic memories and emotions Kaithapram and Ouseppachan gave us through their songs.
