CPM attempting communal polarisation by referring to candidates as ‘ikka’ and ‘amma’: DCC

Kozhikode: The district Congress leadership alleged that the CPM is making a conscious effort towards communal polarisation by referring to the Kozhikode LS poll candidate, Elamaram Kareem, as ‘Ikka’ and Vadakara candidate K.K Shailaja as ‘Amma’. DCC President K Praveen Kumar said in a press conference that Congress will get a stunning victory in both the constituencies and the majority will be more than a lakh.
“The CPM secretary himself agreed that there is a video containing communal propaganda. This indicates that the doctored video circulated in Vadakara was created with CPM’s knowledge. The police functioned in Vadakara as if it were a subsidiary organisation of the CPM. The police was also involved in the planned communal polarisation efforts of the CPM. If not, let the police file a case and arrest the culprits,” the DCC president said.
“The CPM should back off from trying to transform this land of religious harmony into a platform for communal polarisation,” he added. Praveen Kumar also said that the UDF and RMP will be organising a rally on May 11 raising the slogan ‘stand united against communalism’.
CPM should publicly apologise for trying to destroy the secular tradition of Kozhikode, KPCC general secretary P.M Niaz demanded.
