US offers $20 million reward for information on Iran's nuclear programme despite Trump's claims it was destroyed

The United States is offering a reward of up to $20 million, along with possible relocation, for information about Iran's nuclear programme, in a move that has drawn attention amid President Donald Trump's repeated claims that the country's nuclear capabilities have been destroyed.

US Central Command announced the offer on Friday, saying the State Department's Rewards for Justice programme was seeking information about Iran's nuclear facilities, equipment and personnel, including members of its scientific community.

The reward also covers information about the movement of nuclear-related facilities, equipment and personnel, according to the programme's official announcement.

The announcement comes despite Trump's assertions that US military action has obliterated Iran's nuclear programme. The latest reward offer indicates that Washington is continuing to seek intelligence on the country's nuclear infrastructure and the people associated with it.

The Rewards for Justice programme is run by the US State Department and offers financial incentives for information that could help the government address national security threats.

The US government has maintained that preventing Iran from developing nuclear weapons is a key national security priority. Tehran, however, has consistently maintained that its nuclear programme is intended for peaceful purposes.
