UAE air defences stop third wave of Iranian strikes; Bahrain residential areas targeted

The United Arab Emirates came under a third wave of Iranian missile and drone attacks on Saturday, following an escalation in the Middle East after the US and Israel launched a major offensive against Iran. Dubai International Airport (DXB) and Dubai World Central – Al Maktoum International Airport (DWC) halted all flight operations as the strikes unfolded.
Air defences intercept missiles over UAE
The UAE Ministry of Defence confirmed its air defence systems successfully intercepted multiple Iranian missiles and drones aimed at the country. Falling debris from the intercepted projectiles landed across Abu Dhabi and Dubai, prompting precautionary evacuations, including the Burj Khalifa. Despite the widespread impact, authorities reported no casualties.
Fallout in residential areas
Bahrain’s Ministry of Interior stated that several residential areas in Manama were among the targets. Civil defence teams are on site conducting firefighting and rescue operations, with further details expected later.
The situation has caused major disruptions in transport and raised tensions across the Gulf region. Authorities continue to monitor the threat while emergency services respond to affected areas.
