Washington DC: US President Donald Trump on Friday warned China and Russia against becoming involved in the ongoing Iran conflict, stating that any military support for Tehran would have negative consequences for both countries.

In a post on Truth Social, Trump said he believed neither Beijing nor Moscow was currently participating in the conflict. He claimed that Chinese President Xi Jinping had assured him that China would not sell or provide weapons to Iran.

Trump also said Russian President Vladimir Putin had given similar assurances regarding weapons supplies to Tehran.

US-Iran conflict continues

The warning comes as tensions between the United States and Iran remain high following US and Israeli strikes earlier in the conflict, which resulted in the deaths of senior Iranian officials.

US officials have also examined whether Iran received assistance from foreign countries, including possible support related to targeting information and drone technology.

The United States has previously imposed sanctions on individuals and companies in Russia and China over allegations of helping Iran obtain military equipment.

Trump highlights ties with Xi and Putin

Trump said his recent discussions with Xi and Putin influenced his assessment that China and Russia were not actively supporting Iran militarily.

He added that any decision by either country to enter the conflict would be against their interests.

The comments come as Washington continues to monitor Iran’s military capabilities and the possibility of wider involvement from global powers.

The involvement of major powers such as China or Russia could significantly change the dynamics of the conflict, increasing concerns about a broader international confrontation.

For now, Trump has said both countries are staying away from direct involvement, while the US continues to pressure Iran through military and diplomatic measures.
