Tehran: Before dawn on Monday, a series of airstrikes struck Iran’s capital, Tehran, with explosions echoing through the night. The exact targets were not immediately clear, though residents reported hearing low-flying fighter jets intermittently for hours.

In Israel, authorities issued one missile alert as tensions escalated across the region.

In Dubai, in the United Arab Emirates, two alerts were sounded, with air defence systems activated. However, it remained unclear what had been targeted.

Kuwait also confirmed multiple interceptions overnight. The military later said its systems were actively responding to fresh threats.

“Kuwaiti Air Defences are currently responding to hostile missile and drone threats,” the army posted on X.

The country had earlier indicated it was responding to similar attacks from Sunday night into Monday.

Meanwhile, Iran’s state-run IRAN daily reported that an airstrike in a residential area of Qom killed at least five people. Qom, a key Shiite seminary city south of Tehran, was among the locations hit, though the intended target remains unknown.

Iran has not released updated overall casualty figures or detailed material losses from the ongoing conflict in recent days.

US President Donald Trump on Sunday made expletive-filled threats against Iran and its infrastructure if it doesn't open the Strait of Hormuz by his Tuesday deadline, after American forces rescued a wounded aviator whose Iran-downed plane fell behind enemy lines.

A defiant Iran struck infrastructure targets in neighbouring Gulf Arab countries and threatened to restrict another heavily used waterway, the Bab el-Mandeb Strait off the Arabian Peninsula.

Trump on social media vowed to hit Iran’s power plants and bridges and said the country would be “living in Hell” if the Strait of Hormuz, crucial for global trade, isn’t opened. He ended with “Praise be to Allah.”
