Missile fired from Yemen towards Israel, says IDF; sirens sound in south

Tel Aviv: The Israeli military on Saturday confirmed that a missile was launched from Yemen toward Israeli territory, triggering air raid sirens in the country’s southern region.
In a post on X (formerly Twitter), the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) said, “Sirens sounding in southern Israel following projectile fire from Yemen,” indicating a potential escalation from the Houthis or other Iran-backed groups operating in the region.
The incident comes just days after Iran and Israel reached a ceasefire.
Meanwhile, Iran began a state funeral for nearly 60 individuals, including top military commanders and nuclear scientists, who were killed in recent hostilities with Israel. State television broadcast scenes of mourners dressed in black, waving Iranian flags and holding portraits of the deceased.
