IndiGo flight to Jeddah lands in Karachi amid medical emergency

Karachi: An IndiGo flight bound for Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, was forced to make an emergency landing at Jinnah International Airport in Karachi, Pakistan, on Saturday due to a medical emergency onboard.  

The flight, which departed from New Delhi, was in Pakistani airspace when a male passenger fell seriously ill. Sources from the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) confirmed the incident.  

According to Geo News, the passenger was identified as a 55-year-old Indian man.  

“The pilot contacted Karachi air traffic control after the passenger's condition did not improve, even after being administered oxygen,” a CAA source said.  

The air traffic control granted the IndiGo flight permission to land at Karachi airport on humanitarian grounds. A medical team immediately boarded the aircraft to provide emergency care to the passenger.  

After the issue was resolved, the flight departed Karachi and returned to New Delhi instead of continuing to Jeddah, the report said, quoting sources.
