30 Tomahawks, 6 bunker buster bombs: Trump reveals details of US attack on Iran’s nuclear facilities

Washington: In a major escalation of the Israel-Iran conflict, U.S. President Donald Trump told Fox News that the U.S. military launched a powerful strike on three of Iran’s most critical nuclear facilities using six 30,000-pound GBU-57A/B “bunker buster” bombs and 30 Tomahawk cruise missiles.

According to Trump, the U.S. Air Force deployed B-2 Spirit stealth bombers to drop the massive ordnance penetrators on Iran’s heavily fortified Fordo nuclear site, while Navy submarines launched Tomahawk land-attack missiles at the Natanz and Isfahan facilities from 400 miles away.

The president described the coordinated assault as “very successful,” claiming it resulted in the complete destruction of the Natanz, Fordo, and Isfahan sites, all vital to Iran’s uranium enrichment program. Iran’s state-run IRNA confirmed the early Sunday attacks but offered few details.

Meanwhile, Iran’s nuclear agency on Sunday confirmed attacks took place on its Fordo, Isfahan and Natanz atomic sites, but is insisting its work will not be stopped.

The Atomic Energy Organisation of Iran issued the statement after Trump announced the American attack on the facilities.

“The Atomic Energy Organization of Iran assures the great Iranian nation that despite the evil conspiracies of its enemies, with the efforts of thousands of its revolutionary and motivated scientists and experts, it will not allow the development of this national industry, which is the result of the blood of nuclear martyrs, to be stopped,” it said in its statement.
