Mumbai: LPG, CNG and PNG rates across major Indian cities remain largely stable today, even as global energy markets face uncertainty due to the ongoing West Asia conflict.

Consumers are closely tracking fuel prices as India continues to depend heavily on imports for its energy needs, including crude oil and LPG from key Middle Eastern suppliers. Despite these external pressures, supply levels within the country have remained uninterrupted, with no reported shortages and distribution continuing as normal across households and commercial users.

Supply remains stable despite global concerns

Amid ongoing geopolitical tensions in West Asia, concerns about fuel availability have been rising. However, there have been no reports of shortages in LPG distribution across the country. Daily refill deliveries continue at high levels, ensuring household supply remains uninterrupted.

India relies significantly on imports for its energy needs, including over 40% of crude oil and nearly 90% of LPG sourced from countries such as Saudi Arabia and Qatar. Despite this dependence, current supply chains remain stable.

Government prioritises household and transport supply

According to official inputs, supplies of PNG and CNG have been prioritised for households and transport sectors. Industrial and commercial consumers are receiving partial allocations, while fertiliser plants are operating at reduced supply levels with additional LNG cargoes being arranged.

The government has also been expanding city gas distribution networks and encouraging a shift towards PNG usage. In March alone, a large number of new PNG connections were added across the country.

Measures to prevent panic and misinformation

Authorities have intensified monitoring to prevent hoarding and black marketing of fuel products. Enforcement actions, including raids and cylinder seizures, have been carried out to ensure compliance.

Officials have also advised the public not to believe rumours regarding shortages and to avoid panic buying, stating that supply systems remain functional and adequately managed.
