Thiruvananthapuram: Finance minister K.N Balagopal said that Rs 10 crore has been set aside in the budget for this year’s Keraleeyam programme. In his budget presentation speech in the Kerala Legislative Assembly, the finance minister also said that Rs 10 lakh has been earmarked for offering incentives to those who prepare feature reports, studies and videos on the achievements of Kerala.

Keraleeyam, which is scheduled as an annual event to mark the birth anniversary of the state, is an exemplary celebration of all the good things in the land and will also help the state to find means to overcome its shortcomings, the minister said. International trade fairs based on the model of the fairs held in Delhi will be organised here.

One cannot assume that Kerala’s development potential can be utilised after all the crisis and challenges are over. Therefore, different development models need to be orchestrated with the aid of the private sector for efficient development of the state, Balagopal said.
