Gold and silver prices on August 1, 2026: Check rates across key Indian cities

Gold prices in India registered a marginal increase on August 1, with rates edging up by ₹1 per gram across major purity categories. The price of 24-carat gold (99.9% purity) stands at ₹14,461 per gram, while 22-carat gold (91.6% purity) is priced at ₹13,256 per gram. Meanwhile, 18-carat gold (75% purity) is available at ₹10,846 per gram in most cities. In Delhi, gold prices are slightly higher, with 24-carat gold retailing at ₹14,476 per gram and 22-carat gold at ₹13,271 per gram. Vadodara and Ahmedabad also recorded marginally higher prices compared to most other cities.

Gold continues to attract buyers and investors as a preferred asset for wealth preservation and a hedge against inflation. Demand for the precious metal typically remains strong despite short-term price fluctuations, particularly during festive and wedding seasons.

Silver prices, however, witnessed a slight decline. The metal is priced at ₹234.90 per gram, down by ₹0.10 from the previous session, while the rate for one kilogram of silver stands at ₹2,34,900, a decrease of ₹100. Unlike gold, silver prices remain uniform across major Indian cities, reflecting the influence of international market trends and currency movements.

Market experts note that domestic prices of both gold and silver are primarily driven by global bullion rates, the rupee's exchange rate against the US dollar, import duties, and local demand. Investors are advised to monitor these factors before making purchase or investment decisions, as precious metal prices can fluctuate daily in response to international economic developments.
