British Airways has completed 20 years of nonstop connectivity between Bengaluru and London, marking two decades of linking India’s technology capital with the United Kingdom. To commemorate the milestone, the airline operated a special anniversary service from London Heathrow to Bengaluru on Friday, crewed entirely by Indian cabin crew, including several Bengaluru-based members who also completed 20 years with the airline.

The celebratory flight, which touched down early Friday morning, underscores British Airways’ long-standing relationship with India and its commitment to serving the country’s rapidly expanding aviation market.

Neil Chernoff, British Airways’ Chief Planning and Strategy Officer, said the anniversary presents an opportunity to honour the people, partnerships and communities that have strengthened the airline’s presence in India. “As we look to the future, we’re excited to welcome more customers on board and continue strengthening the cultural and economic ties between India and the UK,” he added.

The celebration comes at a pivotal moment for Bengaluru, which is fast emerging as India’s next major aviation hub. Kempegowda International Airport (KIA) has seen sustained double-digit passenger growth, world-class infra upgrades including the new Terminal 2 and a surge in international traffic driven by tech-driven business travel and a growing expatriate community.

In recent years, Bengaluru has also become a magnet for aerospace R&D, manufacturing, and MRO activity, supported by the city’s engineering base, favourable state policies, and proximity to major defence and technology establishments. British Airways' long-term presence and rising flight frequencies from the city further reflect its growing strategic importance in global networks.

To commemorate the 20-year milestone, British Airways launched a special flash sale for flights between Bengaluru and London Heathrow. The offer provides up to 20% discounts on World Traveller and World Traveller Plus cabins, with potential savings of up to ₹26,000.

Since initiating Bengaluru operations in 2005, British Airways has maintained daily services between KIA and London Heathrow, offering Indian travellers’ seamless access to more than 190 onward destinations across 65 countries.

Today, the airline operates 56 direct flights a week across five major Indian metros—Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, and Chennai. India remains British Airways’ second-largest international market after the United States, highlighting the country’s rising global aviation significance and the airline’s century-long presence here.

The anniversary also stresses on Bengaluru’s rising profile as a critical hub for international airlines. As the city continues expanding its aviation and aerospace footprint from global airline connectivity to MRO, leasing, and aircraft manufacturing ecosystems, British Airways’ commitment signals confidence in Bengaluru’s role as India’s next big gateway to the world.
