Malappuram, Kerala: A woman with intellectual disability has been allegedly gang-raped by eight people, including locals and distant relatives, in Areekode. The Areekode police have registered three separate First Information Reports (FIRs) based on the complaint.

The abuse reportedly began in 2023, and the survivor has been exploited over a period of time. The accused, a 36-year-old distant relative, initially lured her with the promise of a tour. He then took her to various locations, including Manjeri, Areekode, and Wayanad, where she was repeatedly raped by him and other relatives.

The accused and other individuals allegedly exploited the survivor's mental condition, using threats and deception to coerce her into sexual acts. 15 sovereigns of gold have also been allegedly robbed from the woman.
