Woman, two young children found dead in Meenachil River in Kottayam

Kottayam: In a tragic incident, a woman and her two young children were found dead in the Meenachil River at Peroor near Ettumanoor on Tuesday. 

The deceased have been identified as Advocate Jismol Thomas (34) and her children Noah (5) and Nora (2). Jismol, the wife of Jimmy, had been practising at the Kerala High Court and Pala. She had also previously served as the Vice President of Mutholy Grama Panchayat. It is suspected that the woman may have jumped into the river along with her children.

The bodies of the children were first spotted floating in the river on Tuesday afternoon. Locals rushed to rescue them and immediately shifted them to a hospital. Around the same time, Jismol’s body was found further downstream and was also taken to the hospital.

A scooter believed to belong to Jismol, was later recovered. Police have launched an investigation to ascertain the exact cause of death and the circumstances leading to the incident.
