Malappuram: The CPM is examining the reasons behind the Left Democratic Front's (LDF) electoral setback and carrying out a self-assessment of its positions on certain issues as well as shortcomings in its election campaign. CPM Central Committee member P Rajeev has acknowledged that the campaign slogan, "Who else but the LDF?" (LDF allathey mattarundu), ultimately produced the opposite effect.

Rajeev made the remarks while speaking at an EMS memorial meeting held in Malappuram. He said the party's assessment is that the slogan was not an appropriate one and that it inadvertently created a different perception among the public.

"The party has concluded that the slogan 'Who else but the LDF?' was not entirely appropriate. It created a different impression among the people," Rajeev said.

He also stressed the need for new forms of political struggle, saying that repeating the methods of the past would not address today's challenges.

"We cannot tackle contemporary issues by simply repeating the approaches of the past. We must understand the present, develop methods suited to current realities, and transform the party to meet the demands of the times. Only then can we overcome this period of crisis," he said.

Rajeev further noted that the party had already concluded that it failed to take a strong stand on the issue involving Vellappally Natesan. He said the party must evolve a clear understanding of how to respond to such matters in the future.
