Wayanad collector issues health guidelines for relief camp dwellers | Check details

Wayanad: The district collector for Wayanad D.R. Meghasree IAS has issued health guidelines for the people living in relief camps in the wake of the Wayanad landslide disaster. People who live near water bodies, and those involved in rescue operations should take 200 mg Doxycycline Tablets once a week as directed by health care workers for Rat-bite fever.
Here is a detailed list of the guidelines:
- Do not throw away food scraps and other waste. Discard them only in designated areas.
- Keep food and beverages tightly sealed to prevent flies from entering.
- Wash your hands thoroughly with soap before eating.
- Drink only boiled water.
- Defecate only in the toilet. Then wash your hands thoroughly with soap.
- Maintain personal hygiene.
- Do not allow pets or birds to interact with the occupants.
- Do not spit in open areas.
- People who have diseases like fever and cold should not socialize with others. Notify healthcare workers.
- Those who take medications for lifestyle diseases should take them regularly.
- People who live near water bodies and flooded areas should take 200 mg Doxycycline Tablets once a week as directed by health care workers for rat fever.
Meanwhile, the death toll from the landslides rises to 298. A total of 107 dead bodies were identified, and 105 dead bodies were handed over to relatives after the post-mortem procedures.
