Man dies of bullet injury in Wayanad; friend seriously injured

Kalpetta: One person died of a bullet injury while another sustained serious injury and is in critical condition at a hospital in Wayanad during an attempt to chase away wild boars. The deceased is Kamabalakadu native Jayan while the injured person was identified as Sharun. Jayan suffered injury on his neck.

Jayan and Sharun were part of a 4-member gang and had gone to scare away wild boars. They sustained bullet injuries from another gang while they were trying to scare away wild boars. They had arrived at the paddy field in Vandiyabatta near Kamabalakadu during night to chase wild boars as it is the season of paddy grain yield. The field belongs to of them, they claimed. Police said more clarification and detailed questioning is required.

Meanwhile, locals allege that the gang was there for hunting.
