Vigilance probe against former Kerala MLA PV Anvar over alleged illegal land acquisition

Thiruvananthapuram: A Vigilance investigation has been ordered against PV Anvar, following a complaint that he illegally acquired 11 acres of land in Aluva. The complaint accuses Anvar of transferring leased land into his name and embezzling it for personal gain.
The complaint was filed with the Vigilance department by a businessman from Kollam four months ago. According to the complaint, the land in question had been leased to a company years ago. The company had used the land as collateral to secure a loan, but was unable to repay the debt in full. As a result, Anvar allegedly acquired the land through a series of transactions. The property also includes a building worth several crores, which may be subject to a High Court order for demolition in the near future.
After receiving the complaint, the Vigilance conducted a preliminary investigation and submitted its findings to the Home Department. Based on the report, the Additional Secretary of the department has ordered an in-depth investigation into the matter.
Vigilance inquiry underway
The investigation is being carried out by the Thiruvananthapuram Special Unit II of the Vigilance, and it will focus on several key issues. The inquiry will look into how the leased land was transferred, whether there were any irregularities in the process, and what benefits Anvar gained from the acquisition. The investigation is being conducted as an inquiry, not a formal case-based investigation at this stage.
