Thiruvananthapuram: Yet another TTE has come under attack in the state. The report comes at a time when the state is still to recover from the shocking death of a railway TTE who was pushed off the train by a passenger in Thrissur a couple of days ago.

In the latest incident, TTE Jaison was attacked by a person inside the D11 coach of the Thiruvananthapuram-Kozhikode Jan Shatabdi Express. The incident happened on Wednesday when the train was about to leave the Thiruvananthapuram railway station platform. The TTE sustained a minor injury on his face in the attack. He later on underwent treatment at a hospital.

“This morning I noticed a shabbily dressed person moving inside the train under suspicious circumstances. I went and asked him for the ticket. As I doubted, he did not possess a ticket. Soon after, he pushed aside a vendor positioned in front of him inside the coach and tried to move ahead. But, I followed him and asked him to get off the train if he did not have a ticket. His immediate reaction was to spit inside the train. Then he started attacking me. My mask was torn off and the perpetrator punched me somewhere near my eye. I have lodged a complaint. After taking first aid at the guard room inside the train, I went to the hospital,” said Jaison.

“See, luckily I have not suffered serious injuries. But I am literally scared to do my job now. We had lost our colleague a couple of days ago. Could not even bid a proper goodbye to Vinod (deceased). And now the ordeal I had to go through, doing this job has become increasingly difficult for me,” says Jaison.

Apparently, there were neither the RPF nor the Railway police present on the train when the attack happened. Later on, cops sprung into action after learning about the incident. The police have launched a search for nabbing the miscreant.
