TP Martyr Square dedicated to public today on 13th death anniversary

Kozhikode: The TP Martyr Square was dedicated to the public as a tribute to the memory of slain RMP leader T P Chandrasekharan. The memorial was inaugurated on the very day marking 13 years since his brutal murder. It stands at Vallikkad, the exact spot where he was hacked to death. The land, where TP’s blood was spilled, was purchased for the construction of the square. A memorial structure erected at the site was vandalised twice in the past. The monument was unveiled by Mangat Ram Pasla, the RMP national secretary.
The three-storeyed memorial includes a museum displaying TP’s personal belongings such as his watch and the Hero Honda Passion Plus bike he used (registration number KL-18-A-6395), as well as a digital library. A full-body statue of TP stands at the front of the memorial. The motorcycle was officially transferred to the ownership of KK Rema after completing legal formalities.
T P Chandrasekharan’s murder on the night of May 4, 2012 had sent shockwaves across political Kerala. In the years that followed, the CPM suffered huge setbacks in every election held in Vadakara. As part of efforts to form a united front of left-leaning parties, the Revolutionary Marxist Party (RMP) has held preliminary talks with the Revolutionary Socialist Party (RSP) and the Forward Bloc.
