Kochi: Following the resignation of Youth Congress president Rahul Mamkootathil following allegations of misconduct, young actress Rini Ann George told media that her fight is not against any individual and that she does not intend to name anyone personally.

“When I first came forward on this issue, there were even insults directed at me involving certain names. Later, I realised that several others were also coming forward with complaints. This controversy is not sponsored by any political party. I have no intention of naming anyone personally. My fight is not against an individual, but against the wrong tendencies present in society. My focus is only on how a political leader ought to be,” she said.

Responding to questions about Rahul’s resignation, she said she had no personal interest in it. “Whatever the decision, it is up to the organisation to make it. I would only say that the person should be given a chance to reform. I still regard him as a good friend.”

She added that allegations continue to surface, including some audio clips. “I am not saying that the accusations I raised are extremely serious. Personally, I feel no happiness in this. When a prominent leader is accused with evidence including images, it must be investigated.”

She said that those who had bad experiences with him expressed fear about speaking out on the matter. “I do not know if they will pursue legal action. This is a fight for women.”

She denied any fear that the accused would receive political protection. “I firmly believe that if my part is right, it will ultimately reach the right outcome. I only understood the gravity of the issue after it came to light on social media. After that, I blocked him. Everyone has a second life. I do not know what will happen in his case,” she added.
